Pedestrian struck by car on R61

The accident occurred on the R61 near the Southbroom traffic lights.

A WOMAN was seriously injured when she was struck by a car near the Southbroom traffic lights yesterday (Wednesday) morning.

According to Belinda Catchpole, the southern area manager for KwaZulu Private Ambulance, a 30-year-old woman was crossing the R61 near the Southbroom traffic lights when she was hit.

“She was stabilised at the scene by paramedics and taken to hospital for treatment,” said Ms Catchpole.

The driver of the car was not injured. Margate police are investigating.
