Saved, sealed and delivered…

The seal's rescue was very much a joint effort.

A SEAL which had been languishing on the beach between Sunwich Port and Banana Beach for the past two days has been removed to safety at uShaka Marine World in Durban.

The seal, which was injured and distressed, attracted the attention of concerned beachgoers. The animal’s left eye appeared to have been injured and there were two small grazes on its body.

Help arrived in the form of Fafa Pretorius from Search and Rescue Port Shepstone and KZN Ezimvelo officers. With the assistance of members of the public, the seal was safely loaded into a cage for transportation to Durban.
