Greasy thief can’t give police the slip

The man smeared his naked body with oil and grease to escape capture.

A MAN who had robbed a mielie vendor at the entrance to the Port Shepstone Country Club today (Thursday), smeared his naked body in oil and grease to evade capture.

According to a reliable source, the man robbed the vendor of some cash and made a mad dash for it.

Port Shepstone SAPS and Hibiscus Coast Protection Services were called out. Once the robber spotted the police he removed his clothing and started running towards the Port Shepstone beach.

He found some oil and grease and smeared it on himself to evade the police, but his plan failed and he was ‘stopped in his tracks’ at the railway station.

It’s not clear if he thought his oiled body would cause him to run like the wind, or pop out of a Greco-Roman wrestling grip a chasing policeman would inevitably get him locked in.

The man was taken to Port Shepstone police station.

And if you are wondering how he got to the police station without clothing, and what became of them, well, that remains a mystery for now.

  1. No, this chap must obviously be what is known as a “bush turkey”. Not right in the head, needs government subsidised help.
