Firearms, drugs and liquor seized

The arrests were made in Kokstad.

A MAN and a woman were arrested in Kokstad last Thursday for being in possession of unlicensed firearms. The arrests come after the Public Order Policing Unit (POP) received information about the weapons while conducting an operation in Kokstad.

The 48-year-old woman was arrested with an unlicensed Norinco pistol and a magazine at Horseshoe location. The man (51) was arrested in Shayamoya, for being in possession of an unlicensed Luger .38 special revolver.

“They were arrested by Warrant Officer Patrick Gosling and Constable Travis Dickens,” said police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.

The officers arrested four people for possession of dagga on the same day. The total weight of the dagga was 309 grams. A 42-year-old woman was also arrested for dealing in liquor. A total of 992 bottles of alcohol, ranging from beer to vodka, punch and milk stout, were confiscated.
