A MOTORIST (46) who failed to stop after hitting a pedestrian near the Hibberdene traffic lights at around lunchtime today has been arrested. Police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid said the driver, who was travelling in a northerly direction, hit the man while he was crossing the road at about 1.40pm.
“The motorist failed to stop at the scene and has been charged with reckless and negligent driving and failing to stop,” she said. He will appear in the Hibberdene Magistrate’s Court tomorrow.
Lt-Col Wiid said details of the driver’s vehicle were circulated by the police, who arrested him shortly afterwards. The critically injured pedestrian is in hospital.
