Businessman killed in hit-and-run

The truck driver did not stop at the scene.

A WELL-KNOWN Port Shepstone businessman was killed when a truck slammed into him and then sped off on the N2 at Murchison during the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Imran Haffejee (46) of Upper Melville and the owner of Jollypac, attended to a callout after one of his trucks broke down in Murchison.

It is believed that after repairing his truck Mr Haffejee walked towards his vehicle and was then hit by a truck driving past.

Mr Haffejee died later in hospital. Police are investigating a culpable homicide case. No arrests have been made.

Mr Haffejee’s funeral was held yesterday (Wednesday). He is survived by his  parents, wife and five children.
