Homemade firearm seized

Seven rounds of live ammunition were also recovered.

POLICE carrying out stop and search duties in Malangeni, Umzinto during a special planned crime prevention operation at last Friday arrested a 25-year-old man for being in unlawful possession of unlicensed firearms. Officers recovered a .38 special revolver, a homemade revolver and seven rounds of live ammunition. Sergeant Shaun Pillay, Constable Jauris Perumal and Student Constables Sithembiso Gumede and Duze Ndlovu found the weapons when the man was searched. He was arrested and is due to appear in the Umzinto Magistrate’s Court this week. The case is being investigated by the Umzinto SAPS Detective Service.
