Brothel accused to remain in jail

The two women claim they were lured to the South Coast with promises of jobs at a hotel.

THE man accused of forcing two young Cape Town women into prostitution will be spending more time in jail after Durban High Court Judge Trevor Gorven turned down his appeal against a decision by a Port Shepstone magistrate to refuse him bail.

The two women claim they were lured to the KZN South Coast with promises of jobs at a hotel in Margate, but no sooner had they arrived in Port Shepstone than they were forced into prostitution.

Veeran Palan, and his girlfriend, Edwina ‘Bonny’ Norris were arrested earlier this year, charged with human trafficking and other offences relating to prostitution and brothel keeping.

They will appear in court again in Port Shepstone on November 29.
