New mall for Gamalakhe

The new development will help reduce unemployment.

THE construction of the new mall in Gamalakhe will create jobs and reduce poverty in the area, Hibiscus Coast Municipality mayor Cynthia Mqwebu told hundreds of people who had gathered at TB Molefe Stadium recently.

Councillor Mqwebu told the community of Gamalakhe that a new shopping mall would be built in their area. She emphasised that this would create jobs for locals.

“The mall will not only create jobs for the community but will attract investors into Gamalakhe,” said the mayor.

Get Start Developers is expected to start construction soon. HCM municipal manager Max Mbili said the municipality had met with government departments to make sure that everything regarding roads, electricity, water and an environmental assessment were all in order.

“We hope that construction will start next year as this is the government’s way of creating jobs for 2014,” said Mr Mbili.
