The south coast fielded a strong team of 10 riders, with  Jeandre Michau, Riley van Niekerk, Courtney van Niekerk, Jack Chapman, Kiera Booker, Cody Dry, Ashton Dry, Kaylib Louw, Kevin Dry and Matti Buys going through to the event.

The amateur men’s division saw TO Strand local Jeandre Michau fresh off learning his first invert take the win in this division in what turned out to be one of the more competitive divisions of the day.

In the women’s division, Courtney van Niekerk competing in her first contest, managed to podium in both the wakeboard and wake skate division with a 2nd in wake skate and a 3rd in wakeboard.

The junior wakeskate and wakeboard divisions saw a full South Coast sweep with the always enthusiastic Jack Chapman coming 3rd, Ashton Dry coming in 2nd just behind his little brother Cody Dry who claimed the win in the wake skate division.

The wakeboard division saw the same 3 back up on the podium but with a slight change up in the places.

Cody finished third behind Jack Chapman and then the older Dry brother Ashton showing his control and understanding of the basics to take the win.

In the pro wakeskate division we once again saw the South Coast dominate the podium with Kaylib Louw taking second place with his roommate Matti Buys claiming the top spot for the day, both a head of Capetonian Sean Bacon who finished third.

A notable performance in the wake skate division also goes to Kiera Booker for landing his firs front side flip in competition and narrowly missing out on a finals position in his first full season competing in the pro division.

The Pro Wakeboard division saw the crowd get treated to a show put on by two wake legends, Port Edward local Kevin Dry, and Matt Lammers. Kevin coming in just behind Matt to take the second place spot ahead of now North Coast local but former South Coaster Damien Laird.

All in all a successful weekend for the crew of wake athletes down at the Boarder Post leaving them all excited and looking forward to the Backyard Sessions that will be going down on  March 10 at Umtamvuna River Lodge.
