THE semis and finals of the Daphne Conradie and men’s sevens that was cancelled due to the heavy rains on the 11th will now be held (weather permitting) at The Bell tomorrow, Friday November 24 starting at 9am.

An urgent appeal to all club secretaires to submit their 300 club lists to Carol McMullin no later than Friday, December 15.

The two-bowls bags that were bought for the interdistrict sides are now on sale for R200. If you are interested please contact Carol.

The association apologises for the ‘gremlin’ that crept into the diary just to confuse everyone. Please note that page 23, (December 18th to December 24th) and page 24 (December 11th to December 17th) are transposed so please be careful when planning those day’s competitions. This month’s winners of the Engel and Volkers men’s league were Hein Bester, Graham Fisher, Vernon Clements and Brent Addison on a shot countout from Steve Rennie, Gino Alilovic, Alan Hood and Andreas van der Linde. Mike Berry, Ralf Burls, Billy Eccles and Carl Volker were third.

The ladder leader is now Graham Fisher’s team from Southbroom who will play the Banners Rest team of Steve Rennie in the final match of the year on December 8th. Prize-gving will be held at a luncheon after the match.

As part of the club’s annual Boere versus Soutjies competition sponsored by Shelly Beach SuperSpar, the Boere challenged the Soutjie bowlers in trips. Overall winners were the Soutjies, winning two of the three games. Anjie Gold, Gae Gravell and Cindy Cano were the best team winning 28-11. Runners-up were Graham Gold, Billy Eccles and Mike Green who managed to pip the Boere opposition on the last end.

HIBBERDENE

John Mett, Callie Quinn and Estelle Quinn won the Hibberdene Pharmacy day on Friday, November 17. Jan Oosthuizen, Miriam Seager and Louis Gerber were second and the session was won by Eddie Milne, Pauline Howle and Sidney Bradbury.

The next competition will be this Friday, November 24.

The men’s league side will be playing an ‘at home’ match against Sezela A this Saturday, November 25. The men’s fours team will be playing The Bell at Margate and the women’s six will play The Bell at Southbroom. and then AMBC C.

The next sponsored competition is the GP Security mixed pairs on Friday, December 1, with catering thanks to Glen Allen.

Members ae advised that the KBA 2017-18 diaries have arrived and can be collected from ‘head office’.

Last Saturday was the official re-opening of our greens followed by a well-supported bring and braai.

Due to the heavy downpour of rain last Thursday the South Coast Herald mixed 2-4-2 had to be cancelled.

The Suzuki men’s trips will be played this Thursday.

A reminder that the Mugg & Bean 2-4-2 open is scheduled for this Friday, November 24 and the Douglas Mitchell Bowls Day takes place on Sunday 26th.

Social bowls is played every Sunday morning at 9am. Casual dress. Bowls and assistance provided for new bowlers.

The Challenge Trophy between Western Province and the Sharks A on Sunday afternoon was won by WP, 53 points to 48. The ‘Currie Cup’ trophy was won by the ‘Lions’ side of George Snyman, Roger Humphrey, John Meyer and Marion Hall. Runners-up were the WP team, Elbe Snyman, Denise Brass, Hennie and Maureen van der Poel. Third place went to Sharks B, Rob Lyle, Wally and Alice Lumley. Leoni (‘Beast’) Booth won the best dressed player prize.

Tabs in social bowls will take place on Wednesday, 22nd and Saturday 26th, both at 1.30pm for 1.45pm. Visitors welcome at both.

Winners of the Hibiscus Insurance Brokers’ men’s trips were Graham Fisher, Vernon Clements and Brent Addison with Barry Christie, Norman Isherwood and Derrick Shell runners-up. Denzil Massyn, Gary Hess and Carl Volker won the first session and the second session went to Alan Tyers, Clive Bignell and Bill Parfit. The 50/50 was won by John Kepler.

Nelia Reed, Bill Reed and Mike Ryan won the Hyundai selected trips. Monica Middlewick, Johan van Rensburg and Ken Habben were runners-up and Hans Hugo, Dawn Ingle and Charlotte van Rensberg third.

Lists are still open for the Hopdens Kwikspar mixed 2-4-2 taking place on Tuesday, November 28.

Friday’s Business Challenge sponsored by Warwick Wealth was won by Jeff Barnes with Don and Shirley Rossouw on 25 points followed by Trevor Main and Allan Wallace on 23.5 points.

Second week of KBA league saw the men’s A and B sides each picking up five points. The fours team lost 23 – 21 to the Village. The women’s A side earned five points and the B side three.

Mariners open trips was won by Sergio and Pat Ruperto with Joey Anderson. Mike Gower, Myra Doubell and Derek Wicks the runners-up. Tienie Prinsloo, Mac McKenzie and Willy van Jaarsveldt won the session.The board went to Mac McKenzie.
