Southport woman threatened, robbed at home

The woman was forced to wait in the bathroom while the robbers fled with her belongings.

A SOUTHPORT woman had a frightening experience when she was threatened and robbed at her Goodlands Road home last night.

At about 9.30pm the 24-year-old woman was hanging washing on the line and had left the door and gate open.

“When she was in the kitchen, three men entered the house,” said police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.

“The men threatened her with a knife and told her to sit in the bedroom. They ransacked the house, taking various items.”

The intruders then took the woman to the bathroom,  told her to wait for two hours and then left.

The men were described as tall and all had clean shaven heads.

People are warned they should always be aware that they could be watched by criminals.

“Do not go out alone in the dark and keep doors and safety gates locked. If possible, get watch dogs to protect your property and yourself. Dogs can warn you when there is a threat,” added Lt-Col Wiid.

No arrests have yet been made and Southport police are investigating.
