Woman’s killer handed 20 years

One of the women was able to escape and run for help.

Sifiso Gumede (29) was found guilty of murder and was sentenced last Wednesday to 20 years’ imprisonment.

Additionally, he was sentenced to three years in prison for the charge of housebreaking to commit murder.

The sentences will run concurrently.

On February 4, 2023, a woman and her friend were asleep at Ward 28 Sgedleni in Gamalahke when Gumede, the boyfriend of one of the women, demanded to enter the home.

He subsequently broke down the door and fatally stabbed his girlfriend (26) in the stomach and chest several times.

The other woman managed to escape and run for help.

Detective Sergeant Mlungisi Jabe was the investigating officer in this case.
