Fishermen swap rods for clubs

There was a great vibe at the club.

Kilroes Angling Club traded their fishing rods for golf clubs for their popular annual golf day, held at Port Shepstone Country Club last Saturday.

The format was Scramble Drive Alliance, and the day was won by Jarrod van Wyk, Grant Nevett, Mike Nadauld and Jesse Verster Jnr on 106 points.

Keeping an eye on things are Kilroes members (from left) Dean Kelly, Peter Gavin and Ross Theron.

They pipped the three Ghingais (Atish, Savir and Niren) and Fabian Makhanya by a single point.

In third place, visiting from Umkomaas Golf Club, were Martin du Plessis, Vishan Gounden, Tash Naicker and Tom Naicker on 102 points.

Nearest the pins were Grant Morris (5th), Eben Botha (8th), André Barnard (14th) and Jesse Verster Jnr (17th).

Longest drives were struck by Tash Naicker (men) and Louise Snyman (ladies).

Gavin van Wyk won the Murphy’s individual Stableford last Wednesday on +30.

Runner-up was Basil King on +26, counting out Bruce Holmes.

Tom Naicker putts for par on the 16th.

Fowl Friday, sponsored by Hibiscus Coast Electrical, was won by Howard Crouch on 22 points, followed by Bruce Holmes (20 points), Basil King (17 points), Jenny Hulley (16 points) and Cameron Olivant (16 points).
