Good catches at church’s fishing contest

Zion Tabernacle Ministries held a successful fishing competition.

Despite the cold weather, fishermen came out in their numbers to support Zion Tabernacle Ministries’ second fishing competition last Saturday.

Seen at the fishing competition at The Block are (from left) Rollan Rampear, Clinton Heslop, Vijay Pillay, Teddy Moodley, Pastor Bradlee Pillay and Malcolm Heslop.

Pastor Selvan Govender took first prize with his catch of a 4,8kg squaretail salmon.

Prelin Moodley’s 1,6kg copper bream earned him second prize, while his younger brother, Junalin, took third prize with a 1,5kg copper bream.

Pastor Bradlee Pillay thanked all sponsors and fishermen for supporting the event.

Adam Draai (left) hands Prelin Moodley the second prize.

* In other news, fishermen enjoyed a good day out at most coastal fishing spots last Sunday. On the bite were bream, shad and some brushers.

Kumaran Naidoo caught a 9kg white musselcracker in Manaba recently.

Remember, responsible fishing is keeping the shoreline as clean as possible and abiding by the bag limits.

Anglers, don’t forget to send your catch of the day to sugann@dbn.caxton.co.za
