Fishermen Steve in a class of his own
The club has a motto that members do not measure the pleasure by the size of the catch.
The South Coast Freshwater Angling Club enjoyed back-to-back competitions at Lake Eland recently. Despite some cold weather, there were some good catches.
The first competition saw Steve Mynhard on top again. He showed he was in a class of his own, with 12 fish weighing a total of 15.147kg.
If this was not enough, he rubbed salt in the wounds of the others in the second competition, with 15 fish weighing 20.333kg. In total, 35 fish were caught, with a total weight of 35.480kg.
Charlie Ward caught a total of 13 fish with 8.875kg bag weight. Ryno Basson caught 10 fish with 18.777kg bag weight.
In the women’s division, Mel Love took first place with seven fish, total weight 5.782kg.
Ena Ward was second, and Drien Humphries third. Ena took the second leg with three fish and a total weight of 2.956kg.
However, it was not all about winning, and the club has a motto that members do not measure the pleasure by the size of the catch.
The club has had numerous enquiries from disabled fishermen asking to become members.
The answer to that is simple – the club welcomes all, young and old.
There will be a fishing workshop taking place in the near future, so watch this space.
