Family pleads for medical help for daughter

The little girl has a growth which is affecting her daily life.

The Malunga family from KwaNdelu in Mtwalume is pleading for help for their eight-year-old daughter, who has a medical condition that is impacting her quality of life.

Her father, Mlungisi Malunga, said when she was three months old, they noticed a lump.

He said that since then, they have been in and out of hospitals to try to get it removed.

According to Malunga, the lump has grown so much that she cannot go to the toilet, and it’s now affecting how she walks.

About six months ago, they went to a hospital, and doctors attached a stoma bag for her.

According to the concerned father, although samples have been taken for tests, the processing has taken too long.

“She has been using a stoma bag, but it has not been changed for months. This issue has affected my daughter so much that she had to repeat Grade 1 because we had to go to hospital regularly.”

He is pleading for help to speed up the process for his daughter to have an operation so that she can continue with school and life as normal.

The girl’s aunt, Andisiwe Malunga, said it has been difficult because her niece has now lost confidence in herself.

“She sometimes comes back from school complaining that others are laughing at her and saying that she smells, and no one wants to play with her.”

The emotional aunt said it is difficult trying to encourage her, knowing that they cannot help her right now.

“I always try to give her hope because her self-esteem is so low. We plead with anyone who can help us.”

The family can be contacted on 066 4598326.
