Fashion students to compete at business fair

For the competition, fashion students will compete in designing and completing a garment or dress in two hours.

Ten fashion students will compete in a sewing bee competition at the South Coast Annual Business Fair at the Port Shepstone Civic Centre this Saturday (14th).

Students from Esayidi Fashion School and Nonhlanhla Academy of Fashion Design will compete in designing and completing a garment or dress in two hours.

With the theme being ‘Dress DJ Happy Girl’, each student will design a look that best suits DJ Happy Girl.

Zamabhele Ntshangase of Esayidi Fashion School said judges will be on-site looking for the best theme interpretation, the most creative, neat, well-constructed and the fastest person to complete the garment.

Taking part in the competition, Irene Price said: “I am extremely excited to be part of such a prestigious event and gunning for that win.”

Ayanda Mthethwa said he has never been exposed to an event like this. He said that he hoped the experience would be out of this world and to walk away with the prize.

Meanwhile, Ntshangase said the objective of the South Coast Annual Business Fair is to expose and assist local businesses with access to the local market.

The event is free to the public and will start at 09:00.
