Track Torque: Lando takes it to the Max

We now move on to Monza in a week's time, where Ferrari will be trying extremely hard to bring their cars back to the front for the home race.

Lando Norris (McLaren) drove a fantastic race at Zandvoort last Sunday to win the Dutch Grand Prix and beat home favourite Max Verstappen (Red Bull) by almost 23 seconds.

Verstappen led the race from the start, but once they changed to hard tyres, Norris settled into a slightly quicker gait, and it ended up a clear-cut victory.

There was nothing much Verstappen could do about it, and who knows, it might develop into a turning point in the world championships, providing Norris can keep this up.

In third position on the podium was Charles Leclerc (Ferrari), who rescued the team after a poor showing earlier in the weekend.

Australian Oscar Piastri (McLaren) was next, in fourth place, only two seconds behind Leclerc.

Carlos Sainz, in the other Ferrari, was five seconds behind Piastri.

He drove a good race, especially when one considers that he has been turfed out by Ferrari and will be going to Williams next year.

It is very hard to keep up your motivation when such a thing happens, so well done to him.

Sergio Perez was next in sixth place in the second Red Bull, with the two Mercedes cars of George Russell and Lewis Hamilton all separated in line astern by five seconds each.

Hamilton had driven a good race to catch up to his teammate after starting near the back of the grid.

In ninth place was Pierre Gasly in his Alpine Renault, followed by Fernando Alonso in the final points-scoring position.

It had been a difficult race for most of the drivers.

The gusty conditions had the effect of continually changing the aerodynamic downforce of the cars.

This keeps the drivers concentrating very hard not to lose the car.

We now move on to Monza in a week’s time, where Ferrari will be trying extremely hard to bring their cars back to the front for the home race.

No doubt, the thousands of Tifosi will be cheering them on.

Ferrari are bound to have new packages available for this most important race.
