The Hibberdene area appears to be a hotspot for recent hijackings.
Last month, Airtrack X-Treme Security, along with Saps K9 Port Shepstone unit, managed to successfully recover two hijacked vehicles.
Hendrik Ludick said they were contacted to track and recover a stolen Toyota Quantum.
“The main tracking unit was removed, however, a hidden backup tracking unit was activated. The vehicle was recovered, and an arrest was made thanks to the assistance of the K9 unit. Thank you to all involved, great teamwork,” he said.
In another fortunate case, Ludick and his team, with the help of the K9 unit with patrol dog Picasso, managed to recover a Hyundai iX35 hijacked by three men who had firearms and a knife.
“The vehicle was successfully tracked and recovered even while the hijackers jammed the tracking signal. Unfortunately, no arrests were made,” he said.
