Hundreds take on Grannies’ Walk

It was organised by the Rotary Club of Hibiscus Coast.

To celebrate the wonderful women and grannies on the coast, South Coasters came out in their numbers for the Grannies’ Walk at St Mike’s Beach last Friday (Women’s Day).

It was organised by the Rotary Club of Hibiscus Coast, and the club’s Wilma Lig said the team was thrilled with how the day turned out.

She said over 230 people participated, adding that many were sponsored by the local business community.

“The atmosphere was joyful throughout the event, with many participants expressing their commitment to join again next year. The entertainment was outstanding, with renowned artist Barbie Meyer captivating the audience by reciting poems that highlighted the strength of women,” said Lig.

She added that belly dancers were a particular crowd favourite, leaving many attendees inspired and perhaps a bit wistful about their dancing abilities.

“The Rotary Club of Hibiscus Coast extends its heartfelt compliments to the dedicated Rotary team, who worked tirelessly to ensure the day was a resounding success. We are also deeply grateful for the contributions from the interact clubs and our volunteers – they were instrumental in making this event possible. Lastly, a special thanks to our sponsors,” said Lig.
