Palm-nut vulture rescued in Ramsgate

CROW will continue to monitor the bird's progress in the coming days.

The Centre for Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW) has a new patient, a young male palm-nut vulture, which was found on the ground in Ramsgate.

Denika Govender, fundraising and marketing manager, said it’s incredibly rare for the organisation to receive these majestic birds, and it is doing everything to help him recover.

“After being brought to our centre, he was given fluids, multi-vitamins and antibiotics to prevent inflammation. X-rays confirmed there were no breaks, but unfortunately, he’s developed an infection in his legs,” she said.

Staff at the centre in Yellowwood Park, Durban will continue to monitor his progress in the coming days.
