Two women raped in Port Shepstone

One of the suspects has not been arrested as yet.

Police are investigating two separate rape incidents which occurred in Port Shepstone two weeks ago.

In the first incident, a case of rape was opened at Port Shepstone Saps after the 21-year-old victim met the suspect after chatting to him on social media.

The suspect asked the woman to exchange phone numbers, which she did, and after a few days, they both agreed to meet.

The office of Saps Corporate Communication Ugu District confirmed that the man then took the woman to a residence in Marburg, where he raped her.

He was arrested and appeared in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday last week. The case was postponed, and the man remains in police custody.

In the second case, police opened a case after a 30-year-old woman was allegedly raped in the Port Shepstone CBD.

It is believed that the woman went to meet a man whom she had an appointment with to complete some documents. The suspect overpowered her and raped her. No arrest has been made as yet.
