Scottburgh car guards shown appreciation

The car guards were also very excited to receive these hampers and would like to thank everyone involved.

The four legal car guards in Scottburgh were shown great appreciation on Mandela Day last week.

They received massive food hampers put together by Scottburgh Saps and its Tea Club members, as well as brand new car guard T-shirts, which were kindly sponsored by the Scottburgh Caravan Park.

The goods were handed over to car guards Goodman Madlala, Sizwe Mhlongo, Samuel Enock Arulappen and Tyrone Haynes at the Scottburgh police station on Thursday.

Lieutenant Colonel Vijay Moodley addressed all those present at the handover ceremony.

“Mandela Day is all about giving back, and charity begins at home. For us, that is our car guards who are the eyes and ears of the police,” explained Moodley.

“If anything is suspicious, they report it to us, and for that, we are grateful.”

It was mentioned that Scottburgh Saps has been running the car guard project with Scottburgh Caravan Park for many years, and both parties are thankful for the work done by these car guards.

JP Nel, who is part of management at the caravan park, said that these hampers donated by Saps were amazing, and he felt privileged to be part of this venture.

The car guards were also very excited to receive these hampers and would like to thank everyone involved.
