Countless fishies saved
Service clubs joined Zoe Prinsloo from Save a Fishie to clean-up South Coast beaches.
Capetonian Zoe Prinsloo has collected more than five tons of rubbish along the South African coastline.
She recently completed her Save a Fishie Coast to Coast campaign and successfully reached her target.
Prinsloo travelled a total of 6 300km, picking up litter on beaches across seven provinces during a period of 43 days.
“During Coast 2 Coast 2023, we collected 3 616kg over 71 days. This year, we collected 5 005 kg over just 43 days,” she said.
On the KZN South Coast, volunteers tackled Sunwich Port beach, the area under the Mzimkhulu River bridge, The Block in Port Shepstone and Port Edward main beach in two days with the help of the Port Shepstone Teddies, Brownies, Girl Guides and Rangers, members from the Bendigo Conservation Group, the Port Shepstone Rotary and a few locals.
