‘Flying Boy’ Sizo honoured by RNM

The young dancer has put the South Coast on the map.

‘Flying Boy’ Sizolwethu Ngidi (11) has been honoured by Ray Nkonyeni Municipality for his stellar efforts in winning this year’s U12 World Freestyle Championships held in Blackpool in England last week.

The municipality held a special meeting this week to give him special recognition.

He was presented with a certificate and trophy by Mayor Zodwa Mzindle and Deputy Mayor Sibusiso Shange.

Sizo, as he is better known, hails from Gamalakhe and is in Grade 6 at Port Shepstone Senior Primary.

He won the freestyle category and was second in the slow dance event.

RNM helped fund his trip to the tune of R10 000.

Mzindle said it brings the region great honour to have such a young and dedicated boy setting a good example, not just for the town but for the country as well.

“Sizolwethu has certainly done us proud, and we wish him everything of the best going forward,” she said.

In response, he thanked the municipality for the recognition and shared how he is now preparing for his next event, the 2024 IDO Disco World Championships in Mulheim, Germany, from October 24 to 27.
