Award recipient Annie J is a force to be reckoned with

Anneline has always been involved in the local community.

The mid South Coast area has been placed on the map, once again, by a dynamo of a woman in Anneline Moodley.

She was one of the recipients of the Influential Women and Artes Awards.

Anneline, also known as Annie J, was born and bred on the mid South Coast.

She said she was ‘truly humbled’ in receiving the award, which aims to honour women from all walks of life, those who are making a significant difference in their respective communities.

Anneline has always been involved in the local community. “Ever since I was a little girl, I did humanitarian work,” she said.

“My late father, Pastor Sonny Pillay, had a church in Umzinto. This is where my family and I became involved in community upliftment and development, focusing on families.”

Anneline is also part of Project Zarapheth, which cares for widows, orphans and abused women.

She also offers her services to the public through an addiction recovery programme, striving to change as many lives as possible.

“Thanks to my dad, I was taught to always give back to the world without any expectation of getting anything back,” she said.

“He was my biggest supporter and inspiration, and with this year being his 10 year death anniversary, I want to honour him, so this award is dedicated to him.”

Anneline said she felt empowered to be a part of such a prestigious and celebrated event.

The ceremony was held at iZulu Theatre, Sibaya Casino, last Sunday and proved to be an unforgettable experience.

The theme was ‘Embrace empowerment and creativity in a night of distinction and inspiration’.

Anneline, who is a mother of two, is not just beauty and brains – she means business, too.

She is a function coordinator, emcees at events, and more, including team building and skills development.

Anneline said that, through her businesses, she is able to give back to communities in need, such as the Tongaat community, where certain areas were left devastated after the recent tornado.

“I am so grateful and honoured to have been recognised for my work, and I hope to continue making my community and family proud. I’m grateful for the support from my husband Adrian and daughters Adrielle and Allyssandria.”
