Crossman bags win in nick of time

They produced solid golf in testing conditions.

Cameron Olivant and Nic Crossman had a winter holiday to remember when it comes to junior golf.

Both won a tournament on the local circuit, Nic’s win coming on a very windy at Southbroom, where he shot a superb 71. He won by three from Ben Wilson (Victoria CC).

Cameron, after getting into contention in the previous two events, finally broke through with a win at Umdoni Park, where he also scored 71, again in some breezy weather.

For Nic, it was the perfect way to sign off from junior golf.

“These were the last junior tournaments I was eligible to play in, so I’m happy I finally got it done,” he said.

For Cameron, it was a breakthrough win after some narrow misses. His putting let him down at the tournaments at Southbroom, where he shot 77 to finish tie fourth.

In the opening event at Port Shepstone, he was in contention with a few holes to go, but two three-putts saw him score 75 and finish third behind Keagan Horner (Royal Durban) and Ben Wilson, who had 72 and 74, respectively.

However, things were a lot better at Umdoni.

He also won the Southern Natal Nomads trophy for the lowest aggregate over the three events.

Mikhail van Brakel (Southern Natal Nomads) congratulates Cameron Olivant on winning the South Coast Swing (best aggregate) during the holidays.
