Calling for 1950’s South Coast shark attack memories

Filming is set to begin shortly in South Africa.

A London-based film production company is keen to interact with any KZN South Coasters who lived through and have recollection of the shark attacks which took place in Margate from 1957 to ’58.

Filming is set to begin shortly in South Africa on a programme about great white sharks for broadcast.

The documentary aims to explore the effect of orcas on shark populations and how they seem to be shifting to the east as a result of orca predation.

Anyone with information about the shark attacks that happened in local waters in the late 1950s is welcome to make contact with assistant producer Mariana Kneppers by email at Mariana.Kneppers@talesmith.tv to share their perspective.
