10 facts about Oppi Kus Musiekfees

This year's Oppi Kus Musiekfees is set to be bigger, better and the best!

Oppi Kus Musiekfees is set to take place at Douglas Mitchell Sports Club this Friday, July 5 and Saturday, July 6.

Here are 10 things you should know about the South Coast’s biggest music festival:

1. Doors will open on Friday, July 5 at 15:00. Married singing couple Wynand and Cheree will kick off the two-day festival at 16:00. On Saturday, July 6, doors open at noon, and the first artist will perform at 13:00.

2. Celebrate and support the Bokke with your favourite artists. Due to popular demand, the Springboks vs Ireland rugby match will be shown on the big screen on Saturday, July 6, from 17:00 to 19:00.

3. The roadworks on Marine Drive in Uvongo will be completed before the festival.

4. Steve Hofmeyr headlines the list of 13 artists this year. It’s the biggest line-up since the first festival in 2019. Winston Smile and Shaun Wulf will represent the South Coast’s local talent.

5. Eight of the 13 artists are new and ready to entertain – Kurt Darren, Franja du Plessis, Pieter Smith, Armand Hofmeyr, Mirandi, Ruan Josh, Winston Coetzee and Bok van Blerk.

6. From a logistical perspective, the organisers have listened to the public and introduced some necessary and exciting changes. There will be more toilets. Better washroom facilities and cleaned more often. More speakers, so you can hear the music wherever you are. More screens for a better visual experience. More food vendors, more variety, shorter queues.

7. Sufficient parking is available on site. Parking is not managed by the event organisers but by the Douglas Mitchell Sports Ground Committee. The charge per vehicle is R30. All proceeds for parking will go to Douglas Mitchell Sports Grounds. Disabled parking bays will also be demarcated.

8. Bring the entire family. The children’s play area will close at 23:00 each night after the last artist’s performance. The play area is free to enter for all children. Children with passes will receive two free cooldrinks per night.

9. Tickets available at itickets.com/events/477901, Ok Liquors and at Douglas Mitchell. Limited tickets will be available at the gate.

10. Hosted by Round Table Margate 46, this project aims to raise funds for a better South Coast community.
