UPDATE- WITH VIDEO: N2 Hibberdene protests
It is thought that the protesters want three suspects, arrested for attempted murder, to be released.
POLICE on Wednesday night received reports of a group of people who had blocked the R102 Sipofu road outside Hibberdene with burning tyres, said police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.
Hibberdene police officers, the K9 unit and POP responded. It is thought that the protesters want three suspects, arrested for attempted murder, to be released.
The attempted murder cases stems from a man who said he was assaulted by a group of people on on the freeway in the Mfazazana area in July. He claims his attackers were armed with with sticks and sjamboks. He was taken to GJ Crookes hospital and opened the case when he was discharged.
“Three suspects are currently in custody and it is expected that they will appear in court tomorrow,” added Lt-Col Wiid.
