Easter run receives super support

The weather was windy but at least the rain stayed away.

The annual Easter Monday CHOC charity run for childhood cancer looked to be well supported once again.
It’s more than just a run, of course, with the event open to walkers and cyclists as well.
Runner Bradley King was among those who thoroughly enjoyed the event.

“Deborah Berridge always puts a lot of effort into hosting this worthy event in terms of trying to get the word out there of the event taking place, so I had prayed that her hard work would pay off, and from as far as what I can tell, those prayers looked to be answered,” he said.

“It’s always a little bit difficult to gauge how well it was supported due to staggered starts, but judging by the number of vehicles that filled the parking lot, it appeared to have gone off better than expected, with many walkers, runners and cyclists encountered along the Lillicrona Boulevard route to the Lucien beach parking lot and back.”

Deborah was delighted with the response.

“Despite the wind, the weather was pleasant. Thank you to everyone for the awesome support. R9570 was raised, bringing my overall total to R12820 and exceeding my goal,” she said.

Unfortunately for Deborah, she has had to withdraw her Comrades Marathon entry due to injury.

“The funds will be put onto Jayde Fouche’s Comrades profile. It will be from me and the Uvongo Fun Run community and friends,” she said.

Debbie Bland and Bradley King enjoy the run.
