Help available for addictions

Help is at hand for struggling community members.

Alcohol and drug abuse along with pornography, gambling, excessive gaming and sex addiction are some of the challenges that are taking an enormous toll on local communities.

Recently, Umzinto’s Christ The King Community Church together with Redeemed Life Recovery and Project Exodus launched its own recovery programme, to help tackle the crisis more locally.

They have partnered with many groups to provide the community with a much-needed multi-dimensional solutions driven programme developed and piloted in rehabilitation settings over decades.

“We offer assistance across all racial and religious platforms to communities that have been crying out for far too long,” explained Anneline Moodley, a member of the recovery team.

The team aims to provide nourishment in terms of spiritual and physical help with the assistance of counsellors and spiritual support, to navigate the hidden and real issues of life.

“We also engage in partnerships with nurses, rehabs and hospitals,” added Moodley.

Those who seek help will learn how to rebuild again and be adequately equipped with skills development through Life Recovery Plan and Personal Development Plan, to start over in a non-judgmental, safe and confidential space.

The Umzinto team calls on all stakeholders, youth, parents, family members, businesses, media, schools, faith-based organisations and local government to support this venture.

Recovery meetings are held every Sunday at 13:30 at Christ The King Church in Umzinto (Suria Centre). To find out more, contact Adrian Moodley on 062 0363712 or Pastor Premilla Pillay on 081 4843804.
