Freek stands out at Paddock compo

The community of farmers who organised the event thanked all those who sponsored prizes and took part in the compo.

This year was another great edition of the annual Paddock Fishing Compo.

There was glorious weather from Friday through to Sunday, with sunny skies and happy smiles.

Crowds of people from young to old flocked to the dams to cast their lines.

This year’s biggest bass went to Freek Stander, with a bass weighing 3.4kg, caught at Deon Voigts’s dam (26).

Junior School 1st team: Bass Buds (from left) Tydan Nadauld, Leah Bunge, Skyla Nadauld and Ella Bunge.

The biggest tilapia was caught by Ayanda Mbuto, which weighed in at 1.81kg. Dam no 37, belonging to Luke Dunstone, had the most fish caught at 59.13kg.

A total of 538.886kg of bass was caught and 103kg of tilapia during the course of the weekend.

Junior School 1st tilapia – Mila Terblanche.

Men’s 1st team – Dam Good.

Ladies 1st team – Dolphins.

Junior School 1st team – Bass Buds.

Junior School 2nd team – Bass Hunters.

High School 1st team – Streamline Hookers.

High School 2nd team – Ambassadors.

Mixed 1st team – Jigheads.
