‘Local girl’ Irene-Louise returns to sing

Irene-Louise van Wyk described Saturday's show as 'one not to be missed' as it is suitable for the whole family.

Songbird Irene-Louise van Wyk is returning to the South Coast with a show at Suid-Natal High School this Saturday, March 9 at 19:00.

She is a multiple-award winning Afrikaans female artist, and has fond memories of growing up in Shelly Beach and Margate.

The talented singer had a massive hit with ‘Tekkies Brand’ that was streamed eight million times and spent 14 weeks at number one on the Apple chart.
She has had numerous hits since then.

“I have been in the music industry for nine years, and I am passionate about it and love to entertain on stage.”
Irene-Louise described Saturday’s show as ‘one not to be missed’ as it is suitable for the whole family.

“The show will be a ‘feel-good show’ where people can forget about the world’s problems and spend time with me,” she said.

Irene-Louise lives in Pretoria, and has followed in her mother Irene van Wyk’s footsteps.
Irene was brilliant and a well-known SA commercial and gospel singer who died in a car crash in 2009.
She had been in the music industry for 25 years, and had brought out seven CDs and a ‘best of’ CD.

“This is a very special show, as it will be with my family and friends. I will also be singing my mother’s song: Wie is die vrou in jou arms vanaand? I don’t sing this track very often, as it is a slower song, but one that is very special to me,” she said.

Irene-Louise is brought down by the non-profit organisation, Suidie Ondersteuners, and this concert will be a special fundraiser for Suid-Natal High.

Suidie Ondersteuners, consists of old boys and girls, who help the poorer learners with school fees, uniforms or sporting equipment, in both the junior and high school.

Local singer Shaün Wülf will be the opening act on the evening.

Tickets are available from the school’s finance office or at the door on the evening.
