Margate teen spreads love in ‘rocking’ style
It was a delightful, well captured game for everyone.
A rather intriguing game of hide-and-seek took place on Valentine’s Day.
Bella Tia Hogendoorn (13) from Margate, fondly known as Miss Kitty, painted a batch of rocks and dropped them off at random places in Southbroom, Margate, Lucien and Uvongo.
She was then photographed at some well-known spots in the four villages.
The clues as to where the rocks could be hidden were posted on social media.
Followers were encouraged to hunt for the pretty rocks, snap a selfie with the rocks, and then post it to her page: RT Rock Chix Facebook page.
“There are many rocks to be found. Choose to keep a rock or hide others you find, to give someone else the chance to find some too,” she said.
There is also a prize, if you find the rock with the words ‘True Love’ painted on it.
This is a trial run to see if there’s enough interest as Bella wants to start a marketing initiative next month.
“I feed the cats and want to donate a portion each month to feed the strays in my area,” she said.
Bella said she had great fun planting rocks everywhere with her mother, Tammy and her sister-in-law, Rae Hogendoorn, who is part of the RT Rock Chix group.
“We enjoyed it very much. We just hope the community come on board with it and have fun hunting. Our next drop is going to be even better and we just want the rock finders to choose the rock they like best and leave the rest for others to find,” said Tammy.
“We want to grow this initiative and we want to bring civic pride to the South Coast.”
