OPINION: SPCA’s Mike and Sonny save the day

"This service reiterates why we desperately need to support this non-profit organisation that tirelessly does so much behind the scenes for animal welfare."

This letter serves as a big thank you to the Lower South Coast SPCA for always going the extra mile.
Recently, I travelled to the vaccination drive held in Pumula with my four rescue dogs, two, are extremely vicious.

Not surprisingly, they hate all humans in whatever shape and size.
The outing was a complete disaster.

We had barely made it into a parking space, and the riled up pack wanted to smash through my car windows to ‘eat’ every human and dog in sight.

Shortly afterwards, I phoned Mike Davis of the SPCA and told him my stressful predicament: hooligan dogs, my vaccinations were out-of-date, and to add to the drama, my area was prone to stray dogs.

Not much later, the society’s friendly field officer, Sonny Mtshulana, was at my gate making friends with my four-legged brats (I think the treats sold them).
And the shots were done, quick, quick!

In the back of Sonny’s vehicle was a stray pitbull, he had collected on the way to my home.
This service reiterates why we desperately need to support this non-profit organisation that tirelessly does so much behind the scenes for animal welfare.

Thanks Sonny and Mike for being such a help!
One less thing to tick off the 2024 to-do list. Now, for a trip to the dentist.

THANKFUL!
