Darren Walker wins monthly medal

Get ready for this Saturday's Umthunzi Hotel sponsorship.

It was a hot and sultry afternoon at Scottburgh Golf Club last Wednesday, which may be the reason for a depleted field.

Johan Barnard’s 36 was good enough for a win. Wayne Simpson is on a roll and turned the corner with his 35 for second place. No 2 clubs recorded and one wonders where the hidden holes are.

KWV was the sponsor for our monthly medal played last Saturday, and the boys came out to play (or was it the thoughts of the cold beers afterwards). Nevertheless, Darren Walker won the A division gross with 76 followed by ever present Barry Kisten for the nett with 71.

A tight run affair in the B division for the gross with Stephen Myburgh winning on a count out with 84. Wayne Simpson again took the nett with 69. In the C division Conrad Kleinhans scored 36 points to win with Johan Barnard featuring for second with 35.

Wayne won the medal for January with his 69. Stephen and Branden Myburgh assisted by Willie Creaney and Spoekie took the alliance which is sponsored by Nivash Mahabeer and TM Moodley with 82 points.
Darren Walker who won the A division had to dig deep as he and dad Ian with Clyde Leisagang and Russel Freeman all coughed up for the Stone. Stephen Myburgh also recorded a 2 club with Tony Moore and Willie Creaney, at last found the hidden holes.

Our manager, Deane Jooste is leaving for pastures new in Limpopo after being head hunted by an old acquaintance. It was a position that Deane couldn’t turn down which is at Legends Golf Estate. Judy, our bookkeeper was highly recommended for the same position she holds now and will also be relocating. The members wish both of them all the success in the world as their work here was highly appreciated. Hamba Kahle.

There was an individual Stableford today (Wednesday) to get us ready for this Saturday’s Umthunzi Hotel sponsorship, expect a good field so get your name down early.

Flyer’s footnote: When your shot has to carry over water, use an extra club or two more balls.
