Margate set to be beauty queen capital

Lots of exciting plans set to unfold in 2024.

After the successful Miss, Mrs, and Mr Margate 2023/24 pageant, organisers have some exciting plans for this year.

Event organisers, Caren de Bruin and Madelein Stopforth together with Tidy Towns Shelly Beach to Margate pulled off a fantastic beauty competition on Margate beachfront recently.

The winners were: Miss Supreme: Thandokazi Mboxwana, Miss Senior Overall: Tarusha Gounder, Miss Junior Overall: Cherilee Mulder, Mrs Margate: Chandre Swart and Mr Margate: Diaan Botha.

Miss Senior Overall, Tarusha Gounder.

A little bit about the overall winners; Cherilee (7) is from Pretoria. She is a proud learner at Anton van Wouw Primary. A model at Sky Models, she loves playing the piano, singing, modelling, art, robotics and dress-up.

Thandokazi (16) from Gamalakhe is a learner at Gamalakhe Commercial School. She plays soccer and volleyball, and dances and models. What defines her is her enthusiasm, confidence and ambition. She lives by the motto ‘success is not final, failure is not the end and it is the courage to continue that counts. I believe a dream does not become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work’.

Tarusha Gounder (25) from Marburg is a B.com marketing management graduate, and works at Shelly Centre Management as a marketing and exhibitions coordinator.

“I am excited for the opportunities ahead and look forward to continue making a positive impact in my community. I will be participating in other pageants in 2024,” she said.

“We have plans to host four smaller pageabts throughout the year, and then a fancy gala dinner beauty show at the end of the year,” said Caren.
