‘No conflict between ANC KZN and SANCO’

According to ANC KZN chairperson, Siboniso Duma, SANCO is an important component of the alliance.

South Coast-born ANC KZN chairperson Siboniso Duma recently emphasised at the Port Shepstone Civic Centre that there is no conflict between the ANC in KZN and the South African National Civic Organisation (SANCO).

Duma was engaging with mass democratic movement structures in Tolomane Mnyayiza Region after the former ANC president Jacob Zuma, who is the current KZN SANCO chairperson announced that he will not be campaigning or voting for the ANC in the upcoming general elections.

Zuma said he would be campaigning and voting for the newly formed uMkhonto Wesizwe Party.
The ANC provincial chairperson said there was no conflict between ANC KZN and SANCO, an umbrella political organisation in South Africa that is aligned to the ANC.

“There are no contradictions. SANCO is an important component of the alliance. And we do not believe that it is in our interests to respond to issues they raised in a media briefing. We only want to wish them a warm and enjoyable festive season,” said Duma.

Duma said that at any given moment – collectively or as individual components, they were expected to channel their energies to build on the foundation laid by the pioneers of the mass democratic revolution.

“The pathfinders of this political freedom agreed to use the ANC as a vehicle for the attainment of a prosperous South Africa where there is equality and a better life for all. This has always been the historic mission of the ANC. So long as there is poverty, unemployment, underdevelopment, crime and lack of access to economic opportunities, there is every reason for the ANC to exist,” he said.

The session at the Port Shepstone Civic Centre recently was attended by the members of the South African Communist Party, Congress of South African Trade Unions, Sanco, ANC Women’s League, uMkhonto weSizwe Liberation War Veterans, ANC Youth League, South African Students Congress, Young Communist League and Congress of South African Students.
