NPO marches against GBV

During the period December 1 to 5, there was a march and rally in collaboration with other stakeholders to highlight the incidence of gender-based violence (GBV).

Coastal Resource Centre, a non-profit based in Port Edward organised a series of activities to commemorate the annual 16 Days of Activism for no violence against women and children.

During the period December 1 to 5, there was a march and rally in collaboration with other stakeholders to highlight the incidence of gender-based violence (GBV).

With support from the GBVF Response Fund, the Love Alliance programme, Triangle Project, Her Voice Fund and Africa GBV Observatory, participants at the Port Edward event called for stricter punitive measures and laws against perpetrators of GBV.

Many were in agreement that these campaigns should run more frequently, and not just as an annual event.
Coastal Resource Centre continues to implement activities in rural communities to support survivors of GBV, educate communities on issues related to the protection of the rights of women and children, while linking at-risk and vulnerable individuals to social protection and assistance mechanisms.

A community leader speaks at the event.
