Youth ready to take driving lessons

At the beginning of 2024 all learner drivers will start driving lessons.

Six youth from communities in Ray Nkonyeni Municipality are ready to take driving lessons after passing their learner’s tests as part of a free driving licence programme.

It is coordinated by Linda Legacy Foundation in partnership with Mfanomuhle Driving School, B&H Tow Trucks and A &T Busy Corner.

The foundation’s Sthembile Linda said that initially 10 beneficiaries were selected, however only eight were able to attend classes.

“Two withdrew from the programme for personal reasons. On the day of the test, two were unable to write and required a rebooking,” said Linda.

However, all those who wrote passed.

She said the plan going forward is that at the beginning of 2024 all learner drivers can start driving lessons, to ensure they are fully equipped to drive on the roads efficiently and safely.

“As soon as they are ready they will be booked for their driver’s licence tests, and hopefully become official drivers,” Linda added.

She congratulated the learners and thanked her partners for the success of the programme.

Asanda Mzelemu from Bhoboyi is one of the beneficiaries of the driving programme.
