Captain Gary wins own trophy

There was a fair amount of golf played last week.

The captain’s trophy at Southbroom Golf Club was won last Saturday by none other than the captain himself, Gary Purtell.

He carded a neat 74 nett on a hot afternoon. The medal winner was Johan Wentzel on nett 72.
Stableford winner was Ant Hughes on 38 points, with Jack Moulder and Malcolm Greenland next on 36 points.
Malcolm Moorley was next on 33 points.

Sandy FitzGerald and Sue Kupisiewicz won the ladies’ betterball at Southbroom Golf Club last Wednesday on 35 points.
Two behind were Gjertrud Kok and Cynthia Daniels on 33 points.

The men’s betterball was won by Gary Purtell and Eric van der Spuy on 42 points, counting out Marius Santos and Neill Crossey.
In third place on 41 points were Malcolm Moorley and Don Osbourn.

The Nashua Open Day last Friday was won on 94 points by Kevin Feinberg, Graham Massyn, Andrew Flinders and Daryl Morris.

Second place went to Vasie, Roy, Rishie and Kevin on 91 points (no surnames provided).
In third place on 89 points were Gary Purtell, Bob Carmichael, Guy Spittal and Nicky Smith, counting out Di Morris, Shelley Myers, Michelle van der Hoek and Precious Mkhungo.

Saturday saw the ladies play the Famous 5-Club individual Stableford, which was won on 32 points by Louise Leal, on a countout from Heleen Hissey.

In third place on 31 points was Janet Lehmann, followed by Irene Schanda on 29 points, counting out Michelle van der Hoek.
