Some information regarding fireworks on New Year’s Eve: Fireworks can be set off on Sunday, December 31 from 23:45 to 00:15. Those who violate the by-laws will be liable to a R2 500 fine.

Upcoming events:
* There will be DA voter registration this weekend.

* There is a show at Umdoni Retirement Village: The Story of Alice and the Vorona Crisis – Thursday and Friday November 16 and 17. For further information and bookings contact 039 9759516.

* Umdoni Park Golf Club is hosting NG Church Scottburgh’s golf day on Sunday, November 19. Book with Veni at the proshop on 039 9751615. Enquiries to Noelene Kros on 083 5464358.

* There is a mid-month market on November 19 at The Doghouse. Special arts and crafts are being sold.

* There is a public meeting for all Pennington residents at Relton Hall on Saturday, November 25 from 14:00. There will be a guest speaker. Important issues will be addressed. * Umdoni Retirement Village is hosting a Christmas market on Saturday, November 25 from 08:30 to 12:30. Vendors are required. Tables cost R140. Contact Lesley Perchman on 083 2871296.

* Khanya Hospice is holding a live show with Khilona Sounds plus Nagara Entertainers. There will also be a Glamourous Gran competition. Gifts are sponsored by Mervin Mundie. Event is at the Orissa Inn, Umkomaas on Saturday, November 25 at 18:30. Cost is R60 per person.

* Pennington Rec Club Market day is on Saturday, December 2 from 09:00 to noon.

* Umdoni Christian Academy is holding a Starlight Christmas Market on Saturday, December 2 from 16:00 until late. For further information contact 083 7773632.

* The Scottburgh Mardi Gras takes place in Scott Street on Saturday, December 17 from 09:00 to 21:00. This is a Lions Club fundraiser. Contact Lorna Thomson on 072 5078773 to find out more. There will be a float parade, quality stalls, food, beer garden, display court, live entertainment, kiddie zone, beautiful competition and a Christmas eggnog fun run.
