South Coast Tourism and Investment Enterprise (SCTIE) has a new board of directors.
Sandile Dlomo was recently appointed as the chairperson, Nongcebo Vukile McKenzie was named deputy chairperson while Henry Thokozani Hlong’buhle Sabela, Lunga Yeni and Khululiwe Biyela Godlwana were also appointed as members of the board.

At a recent board meeting, the newly elected members attended their orientation and induction.
They are already planning site and project visits, and a strategic planning session in November.

SCTIE was launched in July 2022 after the amalgamation of Ugu South Coast Tourism (USCT) and Ugu South Coast Development Agency (USCDA).

During the merger, former SCTIE chairperson, Dr Sipho Nzimande said the formulation of the South Coast Tourism and Investment Enterprise as the official economic development arm would allow them to identify and unlock the full tourism and investment potential of this region.

Nzimande said the core functions of SCTIE include tourism growth and investment attraction, saying that SCTIE positions the South Coast as an accessible, year-round, leisure destination of choice in South Africa, with diverse nature and outdoor experiences on land and in water.

The new board of directors was appointed to fulfil functions within the Ugu Economic Recovery Framework: Strategy and Plan (2022-2032) and its specific economic targets to be met over a five and 10-year period.

The enterprise said its mandate is to drive the economy of the region by positioning it as a tourism and investment destination: the district economy is poised to take off towards sustained economic growth, reduced unemployment and reduced inequality.
