OPINION: Thank goodness for modern day heroes

Thank you also to Ray Nkonyeni Municipality for providing black bags and the skip.

While out walking my dog Rambo, I took a few photographs of a clean-up along Lilliecrona Boulavard on Tuesday. I cannot emphasise how impressed I am.

Tidy Towns Shelly Beach to Margate was well organised and the Wolf Security team was there to make sure there weren’t any vagrants in the bush.
And a lot of stuff came out of those bushes, it has to be said.

My dog Rambo also did an inspection on the beach.

Can you believe all this came out of the coastal strip along Lilliecrona Boulevard? Fantastic work done by Tidy Town volunteers. PHOTO BY TIDY TOWNS/FACEBOOK

When I went to pick up plastic that washes out with the tides, he dug holes and thought I should bury it there. Or was he maybe looking for treasure?

He dug the holes and then stuck his head in them to make sure they deep enough, so who knows.
Unfortunately, I could not stay out with him for too long. The wind was terrible and it started getting too hot for him and I also could not leave him at home alone. With his diabetes it would stress him out and that won’t be good at all.

I believe Tidy Towns Shelly Beach to Margate has embarked on a cleaning crusade of some note, an ongoing project with the help of Wolf, the Boogie Babes and members of the public.

Stephen Herbst and Reg Horne of Tidy Towns needs to be thanked and supported in their efforts, as well as those who get involved.

Sophia Nel’s dog Rambo also did an inspection and on the beach.

I just wish I could do more to help. You can’t believe how much stuff they took out of the bushes. It’s terrible. If only the people living there would keep it clean, then it won’t be a problem at all.
