The drenching the course got last week has brought the greens at least three weeks nearer to perfection.
The club played the delayed P&G Construction betterball due to Heno’s day last Wednesday. Anton Visage and Johan Engelbrecht took advantage of the conditions and returned a score of 44 points to take home the whisky.
Wayne Simpson just back from a family holiday in the US, got John Mills as a partner and they managed 43 to come in second and some of Cape Town’s famous wines. Wayne also managed to get nearest the pin on the 5th and Deane Joost took the 10th. No 2 clubs or hidden holes, but TM Moodley and Nick Klopper got to feel the Stones smooth exterior.
TM made up for Wednesday by nailing the Friday 5 pin with 13 points followed by Chanelle Usher with 12, still only R30 to play 9 holes with the five nominated for the prizes.
The Combined Stableford kindly sponsored by Halfway Toyota was held last Saturday. We were forewarned about the thunderstorms from the south and predictably they hit us on the back nine.
Fortunately we all came in unscathed with Doc Mahabeer and Barry Kisten leading the way with 72 points. They counted out Anton Visage and Johnny Bezuidenhout, also with 72 and Wayne Simpson looks like he’s never been away as with Brian Richards they got third place with 70.
Clyde Leisagang had an up and down day. He managed to find the hidden holes along with Aarnav Mahabeer and rolled in two 2 clubs with Liam Parker-Dennison and TM getting one each. They say that golf giveth and golf taketh away and so it was with Clyde as he and Ian Walker had to cough up for the Stone, Ian paying his own way.
It’s a betterball Stableford today and KWV will be sponsoring the monthly medal on Saturday.
