WARNING – GRAPHIC AND DISTURBING CONTENT: Mutilated cat rescued
The injuries must have been excruciating.
A FERAL cat has survived what appears to have been horrendous torture, including the slicing off of an eyelid.
The gruesome injuries inflicted on the cat, named Torti Girl, have sent shock waves through the community.
The cat is presently recovering at the Margate Veterinary Hospital.
Her top and bottom eyelids have been neatly sliced off, and the outer half of both front paws have been cut off. One back leg also has a deep cut, exposing the tendons.
After three weeks of searching for the cat, Margate resident, Colleen Walther, who feeds the ferals, said Torti Girl eventually arrived to eat dinner at the car park in Margate’s CBD on Tuesday evening this week.
Colleen, who has fed Torti Girl since she was kitten, was shocked when she saw her horrendous injuries.
She said Torti Girl trustingly allowed her to pick her up, and she immediately took her to veterinarian Dr Leon Brüggemann.
Dr Brüggemann said he had never seen anything like this before.
He said the wounds were difficult to explain, but that it was impossible to attribute them to razor wire or even a car accident. “It appears that somebody has done this to her on purpose,” he said.
Dr Brüggemann said the cat would not be euthanised. However, her eye would have to be removed, as would half of her left front paw, and at least one of the toes of the right front paw.
“As she is very tame and friendly, she will be homed, as she should not be sent back to the feral colony,” he said.
Colleen said she was ‘sickened and disgusted by humanity’ and ‘couldn’t get over how much the cat must have suffered’.
At this stage, the Lower South Coast SPCA is investigating, and anyone with information is asked to contact Michael Muller at 060 5020421. Informers may remain anonymous.
I know Coleen and her friend Trudie who feeds the ferals and it makes me sick that someone would hurt these cats for no reason.Some of Trudies ferals were poisened last week and now this was done to this cat.WHY???I hope that the person who hurt this cat will be sorted out the right way.These two ladies are Heros to the ferals!!!!
Now why on earth would anyone be shocked by this? I’ve seen thousands of native animals maimed, tortured, and mutilated far worse than this — all done by people’s free-roaming cats. My driveways used to be lined every morning with the convulsing and writhing carnage that cats left behind after they got done with their play-toys. Some cats love to rip the skins off of animals while they are alive and the pull the animal’s own skin over their heads so the “play toy” can’t fight back.
Every morning, for nearly 15 years, I had to go out and stomp these poor suffering animals to death with my own foot to put them out of the misery and torment that cats and cat-owners caused. Do you know what it’s like to have to live through 15 years of feeling and hearing a small animal’s skull pop beneath your foot to stop its senseless torture and torment cause by people who love cats?
Far as I’m concerned, EVERY cat needs to die the same way that cats torture all animals to death. And I wouldn’t even mind if someone did that to the cat-owners as well. Karma’s coming! And they deserve every last bit of suffering and torture that cat-owners have brought to this planet and all life upon it.

Maybe cat-lovers should have to hear and feel that for 15 years, maybe then they’ll comprehend the senseless torture and deaths of animals that they perpetuate with their cats.
Luckily I had some wise and educated law-enforcement that urged me to shoot and bury every last one of these invasive species vermin — collared or not. For stray collared cats are the very source of every last feral cat. If you don’t destroy all stray collared cats too then you have done nothing to stop the problem. Thanks to their advice, my lands have been 100% cat-free for nearly five years now. I no longer have to hear the screeching of animals suffering on my lands and then rush to them to stomp them to death to put them out of THE TORMENT CAUSED BY YOU AND YOUR CATS.
Far as I’m concerned today, after all the suffering and torment that cat-owners and their cats cause to all living things, it would now be perfectly just and equitable if EVERY CAT dies the same way that cats torture all animals to death. And to tell the truth, I wouldn’t even mind if someone did that to the cat-owners as well.
Karma’s coming! They deserve every last bit of suffering and torture that they and their cats have brought to this planet and all life upon it.
There are no words in any dictionary that can express how so many of us feel when reading what the human race is capable of .. such horrific torture inflicted on this poor cat be people who are seriously dangerous and must be found and removed from the street not only to protect other animals but you can be sure, people too. There are those who do not deserve to walk on the path that has been gifted to them be God ! There is no other animal on this planet that does such cruel acts to his own kind and others … That what the human animal does ! We are very good at taking full advantage of the 7 deadly sins !
