Man sentenced for shooting his girlfriend

The sentences are to run concurrently.

During a domestic-related dispute, Patrick Lindikhaya Matiwana (30) took a rifle and shot at his girlfriend (37) at Mkholombe on December 16, 2021.
The woman was seriously injured.

A case of attempted murder was opened for investigation at Saps Port Shepstone and he was subsequently arrested by police.

He made several court appearances in the Port Shepstone Regional Court and was recently sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment for attempted murder, 15 years’ imprisonment for unlawful possession of a firearm plus an additional 10 years for theft as the firearm had been stolen.

The sentences are to run concurrently.
Detective Sergeant Mzwandile Mzindle was the investigating officer in the case.
