Women lend helping hand

Hospice is always in need of helpers and volunteers.

Women from the Widenham Retirement Village came to Umkomaas NGO Khanya Hospice‘s aid last week, as part of their good deed for Women’s Day.

The women helped sort out grocery donations and put them into smaller, more manageable parcels which will be distributed to patients in need.

They also received some help from their husbands when it came to picking up the heavier packages.

“Our staff has to carry the food parcels, sometimes a kilometre, so it can’t be too heavy,” explained Neil McDonald, CEO of Khanya Hospice.

“Doing a task like this is necessary and time consuming, but these wonderful people did it in just one morning! Our sincere gratitude and thanks to all who so kindly came to help.”
